MyPerkify (myperkify.com) is a student-exclusive benefits and discount platform. We are committed to protecting your personal information and being transparent about how we use it.

This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over your data.

The short version: We collect only what we need. We keep it safe. We never sell it. You are always in control.

1. What Data We Collect

1.1 Information You Give Us

When you register or use MyPerkify, you provide us with:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Password (stored encrypted — we cannot see it)
  • Date of birth
  • Institute name and type
  • Student ID number
  • Student ID card image (photo)
  • Student ID expiry date
  • Department and program or class
  • Academic year
  • City and country
  • Profile photo (optional)

1.2 Information We Collect Automatically

When you use our platform, we automatically collect:

  • IP address
  • Device type and operating system
  • Browser type and version
  • Pages you visit on our platform
  • Deals you view and use
  • Login times and session duration
  • Referral source — how you found us

1.3 Payment Information

When you purchase a membership, payment is processed by our third-party payment providers (JazzCash, EasyPaisa, Stripe, PayPal). We do not store your card or account numbers on our servers. We only receive a confirmation of successful payment.

1.4 Information From Third Parties

If you sign up using a social login (future feature), we may receive basic profile information from that platform such as your name and email address.

2. Why We Collect Your Data

We collect and use your data for the following specific reasons:

  • Account creation and management — to set up and maintain your student account
  • Student verification — to confirm you are a valid student before granting deal access
  • Personalization — to recommend deals relevant to your city, institute, and interests
  • Membership processing — to manage your subscription and billing
  • Communication — to send you verification emails, deal alerts, and important updates
  • Security — to detect and prevent fraud, fake accounts, and misuse
  • Platform improvement — to understand how users use the platform and make it better
  • Legal compliance — to meet our obligations under applicable laws

We never use your data for purposes not listed here without your explicit consent.

3. Who We Share Your Data With

3.1 We Do NOT Sell Your Data

MyPerkify does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for commercial purposes. Ever.

3.2 Service Providers We Work With

We share limited data with trusted service providers who help us operate the platform:

  • Brevo (email service) — your email address, to send you platform emails
  • JazzCash / EasyPaisa — payment information, to process Pakistani payments
  • Stripe / PayPal — payment information, to process international payments
  • Hostinger — hosting provider that stores our platform data on secure servers

All service providers are contractually required to protect your data and use it only for the specific purpose we hired them for.

3.3 Merchants

We do NOT share your personal information with merchants. Merchants only see aggregate anonymous statistics such as how many students viewed their deal. They never see your name, email, or any personal details.

3.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your data to law enforcement or government authorities if required by law or court order. We will notify you of such requests unless legally prohibited from doing so.

3.5 Business Transfer

If MyPerkify is acquired or merges with another company, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email before this happens and give you the option to delete your account.

4. How We Protect Your Data

We take data security seriously and implement the following measures:

  • SSL encryption on all data transmitted between your device and our servers
  • Passwords are hashed and encrypted — we cannot see your actual password
  • Student ID card images are stored in a restricted secure folder
  • Student ID images are deleted within 7 days of verification approval or rejection
  • Access to user data is restricted to authorized team members only
  • Regular security monitoring and vulnerability assessments
  • Two-factor authentication for admin accounts

However, no system is 100% secure. If a data breach occurs that affects your rights, we will notify you within 72 hours of discovering it, in compliance with applicable data protection laws.

5. Student ID Card Images

Your student ID card is sensitive information. Here is exactly how we handle it:

  • It is uploaded through a secure encrypted connection
  • It is stored in a restricted folder on our secure server
  • It is viewed only by authorized admin team members for verification purposes
  • It is DELETED within 7 days after your verification is approved or rejected
  • It is NEVER shared with merchants, advertisers, or any third party
  • It is NEVER used for any purpose other than student verification

After your account is verified, your ID card image is permanently deleted from our servers. We only retain the verification status — not the image itself.

6. Cookies

6.1 What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit our website. They help us remember your preferences and improve your experience.

6.2 Cookies We Use

  • Essential cookies: required for login, session management, and basic platform function — cannot be disabled
  • Preference cookies: remember your settings like language and notification preferences
  • Analytics cookies: help us understand which pages are visited most and how users navigate the platform
  • Security cookies: help detect suspicious activity and protect your account

6.3 Managing Cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling essential cookies will affect platform functionality and you may not be able to log in.

7. Data Retention — How Long We Keep Your Data

  • Active account data: kept as long as your account exists
  • Student ID card images: deleted within 7 days of verification decision
  • Login and activity logs: kept for 90 days for security purposes
  • Payment records: kept for 7 years as required by financial regulations
  • Deleted account data: fully removed within 30 days of account deletion
  • Backup data: removed from backups within 90 days of deletion

When you delete your account, we begin the deletion process immediately. Within 30 days all your personal data is permanently removed from our systems.

8. Your Rights Over Your Data

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

8.1 Right to Access

You can request a complete copy of all data we hold about you. Email privacy@myperkify.com with your request. We will respond within 30 days.

8.2 Right to Correction

You can update most of your information directly from your profile settings. For data you cannot edit yourself, email us and we will correct it within 7 days.

8.3 Right to Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from profile settings. All your personal data will be permanently removed within 30 days. Note that we may retain anonymized data that cannot identify you.

8.4 Right to Object

You can opt out of marketing emails at any time by clicking unsubscribe in any email or updating your notification preferences in settings. You cannot opt out of essential account emails such as verification and security alerts.

8.5 Right to Data Portability

You can request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format (JSON or CSV) by emailing privacy@myperkify.com.

8.6 GDPR Rights — European Users

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to restrict processing, the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority, and the right to know the legal basis for processing your data.

Our legal basis for processing your data is: contract performance (to provide the service you signed up for), legitimate interests (fraud prevention and platform improvement), and your consent (for marketing communications).

9. Children’s Privacy

MyPerkify is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you are between 13 and 18 years old, we recommend you review this Privacy Policy with a parent or guardian before registering.

If we discover that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately. If you believe a child under 13 has registered, please contact us at privacy@myperkify.com.

10. International Data Transfers

MyPerkify is based in Pakistan. If you access our platform from outside Pakistan, your data may be transferred to and processed in Pakistan.

For European users: we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for data transfers in compliance with GDPR requirements.

For all international users: by using MyPerkify, you consent to the transfer of your data to Pakistan for processing as described in this policy.

Our platform contains links to merchant websites and third-party services. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes:

  • We will update the Effective Date at the top of this document
  • We will notify you via email for significant changes
  • We will display a notice on the platform
  • Continued use of the platform after changes means you accept the updated policy
